mid-power variable recommendation

Looking for a 12 - 16 max with mil/mil for $800 or less.

Glass and turret quality with 30mm minimum tube are my main priorities, zero stop and illumination would be a bonus.

It's going on AR/AK for target shooting.

What scope would you choose?

I would look at the Athlon Midas Tac 4-16. Price is just under $600. I recently bought the Midas Tac 6-24 and think it has a lot of features for the price: Mil/mil, zero stop, nice clicks with 10 mils per revolution, 30 mils total travel, first focal plane. I bought it for a .22 so having parallax that goes to 10 yards was also a nice feature. I don't have a great eye for how good glass is, but no complaints on that front so far. It is not illuminated if that is important for you and you should check out the reticle to see if it is your style.
