Budget Binoculars <$100

Looking for something to use at home or events. I'll be looking at "stuff" in the sky during the day and night. Also for nature watching.

The ISS is too fast for my telescope. So this is one reason for the switch.

I was looking at this Celestron:

Any other brand/model suggestions?

Look on ebay for vintage binolux or vintage Japan binoculars. Can find good deals sometimes, just make sure to read the items description good and check shipping rates before you bid or buy. I've got several very good binoculars of different sizes that way.

I do not know if I would be looking at a high mag binocular in the sub-$100 range. I have looked at a few and not a single one was properly collimated.

Come to think of it, the only kinda OK high magnification inexpensive binocular I can think of off hand is Pentax PCF WP 20x60. I think they renamed it into something else now, but it is a large Pentax 20x porro and they only have one, I think.

Vortex Diamondback. If you google you can find a site that sells refurbs. IIRC they were about $120. A true sub $100 binocular is trash.

FWIW, I was looking at the ISS this weekend at dusk and even with good binoculars it only looked like a bright light passing by.

In that price range I'd probably side with a porro prism bino since I think you get a better view than a roof prism. but YMMV.

Leopold Yosemites are the best sub 100 binos.

For a little more than that you can get a pair of Redfield 8X binoculars. For the money they are pretty decent.

OP, Try looking into "vintage binoculars"; really amazing deals for binos crafted during better times. Same goes for spotting scopes if you decide to go that route.
