I think they're great-- I order the wrong version of a mount once and they exchanged it no questions asked, no extra charge for shipping it again.

I've ordered from opticsplanet and was very satisfied with the customer service. Ordered at night, they gave me a call in the morning about my order and had it shipped that day. A+

Sorry to hear you had a problem with Optics Planet. Maybe I've been lucky but I have never had a problem with them.

Optics Planet can have some issues but most of my experience has been good.

I've had items on backorder but they'll send me an email telling me about it. Shipping takes awhile, too, but it's FREE SHIPPING. In fact I'm ordering some scope rings and scopes from them.
I'm not having a glass of wine, I'm having SIX. It's called a tasting and it's classy.

Hey all - thanks for all the replies. So they may not be as bad as my perception, but then this is a stickler for me - so caveat that this is an issue FOR ME.

yes - they seem to always have lowest price. but I want a lowest price on things that will ship tomorrow when I place my order today. yes ecommerce is tricky, but if you are paying some for the software - pay for the good stuff! No one here would support a manufacturer that payed for hap hazard materials for their guns, so we shoudl demand the same quality of service out of the software the vendor uses, and expect them to update.

If you walked into a gun store bought something, left, got home and later checked the box and found instead a note saying "sorry we are out of this, we will get it to you ASAP" would you be as happy? Even if they called you a few days later and said - okay - NOW we have it for it you? So why do you tolerate this online? The software and suites are readily available, and if you can't do that swap, go back to something that clearly states "Inventory is not guaranteed, continue with order wit possibility of backordering?"
that would also be acceptable, but NO business would put that out there.
if they aren't willing to put that out there, I don't think I shoudl have to put up with finding out a few days later I bought something they didn't have, and might not ever have.

Simple fare business, and it is not that hard to do over and above a basic ecommerce site. You wouldn't shop a gun store a buy from picture or only an empty box, why do you accept that online?

It isn't huge - but it is respect for your customers. I believe a retailers shoudl respect me and not just say "whatever - we do tons of sales" and if that mean paying a little but extra, I'll pay a little bit extra. I see what lowest price rules has done for that industry - don't want to see it in this industry.

You get what you tolerate - if its crime, like the cities, you get more crime, if its inefficient etail sites, you get more of them, I would rather see more EFFICIENT etail sites, and so I support those vendors.

so buyer beware - if you don't care you bought something the vendor doesn't have to ship - go for it. if you actually appreciate buying items that exist, and you will be shipped asap - avoid those vendors. For me, I don't like being sold something by someone that doesn't possess what that item to give to me. I buy things as I need them - not as it would be nice to have one of those laying around. Therefore when I purcahse something, I expect the vendor to have it and ship it out quickly, if they don't, I will pay a bit more to a vendor that maintains stock and I know will get it to me asap, or their site will tell me pre order that it is backordered.

I don't like being lied to, a site that says its in stock and lets you buy something that doesn't exist to be shipped just lied to you. Honesty. I like honesty.

and if none of us ever gripe and chafe, it won't ever change - I like change in the direction of inventory verification!

Hahahaha, yeah Optics Planet blows goats.

and I really liked them at first.

But, you screw me over, I give you at least two chances to make it right, and you continue to screw me? To hell with Optics Planet. They'll not get another dime from me, ever.

My only complaint about optics planet is the lack of current inventory.

I have found opticsplanet to have excellent customer service.. I am waiting as we speak for something to come in. In the past they got right back to me if they have not had something.. Once I had them cancel the order when it was not in stock.. I have ordered many times and most of the time it is in stock

In this current economic times within the gun industry, I can accept that type of service. Seems everybody is running into stock issues.

I've tried to purchase from them 3 separate times and each time I get an email within 3 days stating the items are out of stock with no date for restock. I just cancel the order and try to find the items elsewhere. So far I haven't been able to purchase from them so I can't really say as to their service, other to say that they haven't had anything I wanted to purchase in stock... regardless of price if they don't have it in stock, it does me no good.

I don't think they keep very much stuff in stock. I ordered a Safariland holster for half the price of everyone else, took about two weeks for them to get it in stock. If you don't mind the wait, they are the place to go.

I had the exact same thing happen with Optics Planet recently. I saw the item I wanted on Midway, but they were out of stock. I looked around online and found the item for around the same price on OP. They had very good reviews, according to Google, so I figured I'd give them a shot.

What bugs me is that it sounds like they send the same form letter with the same BS regardless of the actual facts. "We have just run out of stock." "We do expect to receive the merchandise back in stock within 7-10 business days." (It's now been 18 days since I placed my order) "They're very popular." If they had cut the crap and just said they were currently out of stock, I think I would have been less annoyed. In any case, as others have said, they need to get their act together and get their inventory status online.

I had the same issue with opticsplanet on a couple of flashlights. It took several weeks and multitude of phone calls to get the $$$ credited back to my credit card.

I understand that things go out of stock but it should take weeks to get your money back.

I would not recommend opticsplanet to anyone.
