How long does a scope stay accurate?

I tried looking around the forums for an answer but I couldn't seem to locate it.

My question is "how long does a scope stay accurate?"

I guess I would say with a .308 caliber bolt action to a .308 semi-auto. I guess you have to take into account of the gun itself.
But mainly, how many rounds can you fire without having to readjust the scope? And also, I guess take into account we are using pretty decent rails, mounts and a scope.

    Thanks

If everything is decent quality, it will be for the life of the rifle. If you do have to adjust it is NOT because of the scope, rather it is your barrel that is changing over time. Or if your changing loads around due to things being discontinued.

Basically, it will be many times longer than what YOU the, user can stand. Your going to have to remove the scope for whatever reason long before it needs to be adjusted.

Impossible question to answer as your POI will change at various ranges with different elevations, ammo and atmospheric conditions. If you are asking how long a scope will remain relaible and hold its zero it depends on the scope. The scope I have on my LR competition rifle has been on there since I've had the rifle and now has close to 17000 rounds on it.
I'm only smiling at you while you talk to me because it's hilarious that you really think I give a crap about you.

As I've gotten older I thought I was gaining patience, then I realized I simply don't give a crap.

It will very from scope maker and they lineup. Some scope makers will do simulation test. Example they will put the scopes on a machine that will simulate 25,000 rounds on a 338 Lapua or tell it brakes. This will give them an average.

You should spend as much on the glass as the gun. I always spend more. A average rifle with great glass will out perform a great rifle with average glass...

Well I'm on the fence right now. I have a Springfield M1A. Right now I have some cheap red dot on it for fun but I think I am ready to get it going.

I have a cheap Weatherby 7mm Rem mag with a cheap Redfield scope that is over 15 years. That thing bounced around my truck and bumped into rocks and trees all the time when I was younger. I am guessing it has only seen about 200 rounds through it but like I said, it has been sort of abused. I haven't touched that scope since I first sighted it in, in 1993, and the last time I took it out, it put 3 holes(2 almost atop each other) all within 3/4", one inch directly above the bullseye at 100 yards. And that was off of the hood of my truck on a jacket. I put it away after that because I only have 15 rounds left of the Federal Premium ammo that they don't make anymore.

Seat the scope right, be careful and you should be good for a long, long time.

True. And if you are a hunter, the quality of your binos should exceed both gun and scope.
