This is my review of a Russian Military scope specific for the AK-12 which is the newest revised AK74.
This scope is called a POSP 8x42WD (Model # 2000) which is approximately 14 inches long without extended sunshade by means of a 1/4 inch rotation, slid out and locked in opposite direction which extends scope to 18 inches. With the rubber eye protection piece give the total length of about 19.8 inches.
Both the elevation/ BDC Turret, and the left-right windage Turret have two rotating turrets. the upper ridged inner turret is adjusted by loosening the four screws on both turrets, elevation and windage which are only used to center reticle when zeroing scope by centering cross hairs on target since sometimes your scope mount and barrel might not be exactly centered. the way it works is it actually moves the reticle inside of scope so when looking thru eye piece center of reticle might not be in the center of scope but left or right of center or up and down. To aquire zeroing you shoot at 50 meters first to center reticle and verify at 100 meters. After that you retighten all screws to about 25 inch lbs and the outer turret with numbers on them is your elevation turret is used only for BDC , and windage is only used for L / R due to cross winds.
The reticle is duel purpose and has two functions, range to target on the lower part consisting of a curved line with meter increments of 2-10 which equal hundreds of meters with a straight line below it with the number of 1.7 which equals 170 centimeters tall person so with the persons feet on bottom line and head somewhere on the curved line shows how far away they are and the center of cross hairs is equal to 100 meters.
All military issued scope are gray with highest quality optic glass and all others are black which are civilian models with lesser quality optic glass.
