My Brother and I each recently purchased Thompsen Center Compass rifles in .308 as inexpensive, reasonably accurate bolt rifles for SHTF situations. We don't want to spend more than about $300 each for a scope. What would you guys recommend?

I was either going to say this, or the swfa super sniper fixed 10x I think it's around $300. The Bushnell tactical fixed power 10x is also $200.

Athlon is a great budget scope

I've actually been looking at the Athlon Argos BTR 6-24x50 FFP SF. It's at the upper limit of what we want to spend but the reviews seem good and folks say Athlon stands behind their products unconditionally.

FFP go with the PA SFP go with vortex. Vortex makes very good product backed by their no BS warranty. So cheap mid or expensive vortex would be the way to go. For a FFP scope the PA is just as good but no lifetime warrenty. I've been hearing some good things about the atibal scopes to.

I actually have a FF II 3x9 with the Ballistic Plex Reticle on my AR15. It has clear glass and the reticle has worked pretty good out to 400 yds on the AR. I'd like something with more magnification and Side Focus for the 308. I think in the meantime though I'll swap it over to the 308 and see how it works out since funds are low for me right now.
Did order a Athlon Argos BTR 6-24X50 FFP SF for my Brother yesterday. Will install it Monday then we will be going camping up at Lake Pillsbury for five days or so and will b able to try both rigs out on the long gravel airstrip there.Last edited by WartHog; 06-08-2018, 9:45 AM.Originally posted by Sierra57Civil War 2.0 - If it comes to pass, the America-hating Leftists will have brought it upon themselves.
