Scope Mount Remington 783

Any recommendations for a 30mm scope mount for a Remington 783? I bought a new scope and I am now trying to fond mounts and rings for it.

You're probably not going to be looking for a expensive mount like a Larue tactical QD that costs almost as much as your 783. Do avoid the cheap eBay/Amazon China ones. I'd suggest either a Burris PEPR or Aero Lightweight, both can be found for around $70.

HORRIBLE idea to put an AR mount on a bolt action rifle! Say you decided to get a PEPR. You would then still have to buy a picatinny base for the PEPR to attach to. The scope would sit so high it would be impossible to get a cheek weld. The PEPR and Aero are designed to be mounted on the built in picatinny rail on the receiver of an AR pattern rifle. They don’t work on a bolt action unless you are a freak of nature and have a giraffe neck. I have a PEPR on my AR. It works well, just not on a bolt action rifle.



The 783, Axis and Ruger American use the same two piece bases so your options are almost limitless. If you want a one piece I’d go with an EGW:

For rings there are a number of excellent choices. My favorite is Warne but that doesn’t mean they are better quality than others, I just like them. Hard to go wrong with Leupold, Warne, Burris, DNZ, Talley and I’m sure there are some I’ve forgotten. I also wouldn’t use Tasco bases like the ones mentioned above.
