Got this Red Dot for a great price from an auction. It is new, never used. I pop a battery in it and it is nice and bright.
I took it to the outdoor range to test it out for the first time, turn it on and no red dot, I put my hand over the front of the lense and can make out the red dot but it is very faint. I guess the battery is almost dead.
The next trip to the range I bring a few extra batteries, test it out at the house and it is nice and bright. At the range, however, it again looks to be almost dead. I try out a couple more batteries and same thing. At full brightness setting, I have a hard time making out the red dot. If I get it on the black of the target I can see it. I dial it in and it is very accurate, the round hits dead on the dot every time but I have a hell of a time finding the red dot after each shot. If looking at the dirt backstop I cant see it, on the white paper I can make it out and on the black, it is better but I am taking too much time between shots just to find the red dot again. I would much rather just use iron sights.
Back at the house, the red dot is nice and bright. I am amazed at how much just a little daylight makes the red dot useless.
Is this common? Even at full lvl 11 brightness, the dot looks almost dead outside. Or is my red dot just malfunctioning?
I got this at an auction house so I do not have a receipt or warranty on it to just send it in or replace it. I do not even know if it is malfunctioning or it just sucks outside.
Anyone else have this red dot? does this sound consistent with yours?
