I had just mounted my brand new HS510C on my Bullpups Unlimited Mossberg 500 12 gauge. After a few slow shots of 00 buck to get the POA=POI I loaded up and let off a string of shots. On about the 6th shot, when I pulled the trigger, something pretty big hit me in the forehead and then flew about five feet behind me and hit the ground (cement slab) and bounced.
Yep. Sure enough I looked and there it was, my new HS510C laying on the ground. I picked it up and took a look at it, not a scratch on the case and no broken glass, and it was still on. So far so good.
The rail on the Bullpups Unlimited chassis is plastic and the edges are a bit rounded. Best I can figure is that I didn't really crank down on the Quick Release Lever screw and it just wasn't on very solidly and popped off.
I put it back on and cranked the QR Lever screw down so that it required quite a bit of pressure to cam over and latch. Finished the box of shells off (about another 15 or so) and it stayed put and was still zeroed.
I have to say I was a bit concerned when I saw it laying on the ground, but it took some abuse and not only survived, but stayed true through it all.
I was fairly impressed.
