    Steiner P4Xi 4-16x56 Impressions/Question

I recently picked one of these up from Eurooptic because they are running a 13% discount and Steiner is giving you 10% back via Visa Giftcard. I must say at the price point I am pretty impressed so far. The only other scope I have owned in this price range was this one's distant cousin the Burris XTRII 5-25x. I can tell you the Burris does not compare and I paid more for it.

There isn't a whole lot of information or reviews available for these as of yet so I just wanted to share my findings. This thing is built like a tank, again, the Burris does not compare. Turrets are extremely stiff and positive, optical clarity and light transmission are phenomenal, and the parallax and illumination are easy to work with.

I typically go for higher magnification scopes in the 20x to 25x range but the eye relief on this is so much more forgiving. In my experience the SCR reticle gets a little fat at higher magnification ranges, especially on the XTRII at 25x. The 16x here is a little noticeable but not as obtrusive.

The impression I have is that this is sort of the American made JV version of the T5Xi. If anyone is looking for a competitor to the XTRII or Vortex Viper PST in the ~$1200 range I think this is a solid contender.

This leads me to my question: Does anyone have or know the exterior dimensions of the T5Xi 5-25x56 at the objective lens and ocular lens? I am hoping to get a set of better-than-Butler Creek flip-up lens caps and have taken an interest in the Aadlands. The P4Xi shares the same objective lens size, tube diameter, and is compatible with various throw levers for the T5Xi in this magnification range. I am hoping the two would be cross compatible but can't find the T5Xi's specs, Steiner hasn't been the most helpful, and Eurooptic hasn't responded to my email yet. If anyone has one that they could throw some calipers on I would be hugely appreciative. Thank you!

Haha, this was the same boat I was in. I was causally looking at this or the Nightforce SHV F1 but wasn't planning on dropping any coin on it. Then I saw the discount and whipped my credit card out.

That is how they get you.

I was considering the swfa hd at 1499.

I hope this scope is awesome. I had t5xi for a minute that was terrible, but my p4xi 1-4 has been great

Curious what you didn't like about the T5Xi? Not that I can afford one or anything.

Build quality. Turrets were gritty and inconsistent, but the glass was clear. The reticle was tilted too. Maybe I just got a bad one.

Hopefully your experience with the P4Xi is better. I will say the turrets are stiff but I wouldn't describe mine as gritty. I am so used to mushy junk that I find them refreshing.

Bump, no one in this state has a T5Xi and a set of calipers?

I have been in contact with Jon Aadland and he just added a set of flip up lens caps for the P4Xi.

Awesome, thanks for the tip on the optic. I ordered one for my new Tikka T3x TAC A1. Ordered the scope caps from Jon Aadland as well since the ones eurooptic recommended do not fit.

Not to necro this thread too bad, but I got my Aadlands in about a week ago and installed them. Nice tight fit, I had to gently tap on the ocular cover to get it all the way on then backed it off just a tad because it was pinching the rubberized eye piece. I have no doubt these things will keep the lenses protected, but will take a little use to get them to open more easily because they are extremely stiff out of the box.
