Leupold on american rifleman

I've never really understood why scopes were so expensive! After watching the segment on their plant, I now have a greater appreciation of the quality control and testing that goes into a scope. It was very informative and interesting. Are there any other USA manufactures of scopes that are actually manufactured assembled and designed in the US?

US Optics, Premier. BTW some scopes from the leupold line are made outside of the country.

Most major manufacturers make some of their scopes outside the US now. Burris and Leupold are good examples - they make some scopes in the USA, others in places like Phillipines, Korea, and China.

Nightforce, Zeiss (some models), and others assemble theirs in USA from foreign components, and some are NFs made in Japan.

Does USO make all their components in the USA?

Which models of Leupold scopes are made here? What does "made" mean?


No manufacturer makes their scopes 100% here in the USA. Some do enough to qualify for the "Made in the USA" label, but imported parts/foreign manufacture are the norm.

I would have loved to see the segment mentioned by the OP.
