      All pretty good suggestions here.

I think most options in that price point will have some type of zero stop/reset.

Reticle preference is probably going to be the biggest deciding factor.

While I have spent more time on the 4.5-14x50 VX3i LRP than the 6.5-20x50, I really like the series and would recommend it.

The Sightron SIII 6-24x50 is another scope I have used some, mostly on a RPR 6.5creedmoor, and had zero complaints about it.

The nice thing about the Gen 1 Razor 5-20x50 is that it has a large adjustment range (ideal for working up to 1000yds).

To my eyes Razor and VX-3i glass is noticeable better than Viper glass. Vipers and of course Razors tend to track better than VX-3i also.

I have the Vortex Viper PST Gen II 5-25x50 MOA on an RPR in 6.5CM. Great value for the price. You can get the MRAD reticle within your price range if you do a little searching. It's available from Optics Planet for $1,099 currently. You can find these in brand new or like new condition from private parties in the $650 to $700 range on a semi-regular basis if you put a little time in on the typical private party sites.

I'm not an exceptional shot, nor am I a doctor in long range shooting. I'm able to hit steel repeatedly at 500 yards without difficulty with that setup, and plan to get out further. I'd imagine you'll be able to do the same and not have much trouble getting out to 1,000 yards like you had said. Good luck with picking an optic. There are several good choices out there for you.

              Look for the deal

I think sometimes people miss a good opportunity. Everyone's in so much of a hurry to get one they don't look for that special deal like my Zeiss 5-25 I got for $800 out the door or the Bushnell Elite here at the local brick and mortar store for 40% off.

              1. Decide what power you want I found for me that was the best place to start.

              2. Decide on the reticule there's so many you need to make sure you get one you want and that will serve your purpose.

              3. Pick like 3 to choose from then compare them and make your decision base don the criteria important to you.

              4. Don't pass up an awesome deal by thinking 'this is too good to be true' unless you're shopping for scopes on ebay lol.

Take your time make a bullet point list of what you're looking for in the scope and find a few choices in your price range.

                  Funny that you post this.

I just came up on a Bushnell LRTSi that at a price that I can't turn down so my decision's been made!

Big THANK YOU again to everyone that chimed in and helped. I really appreciated the input.

Glad to hear you found a good deal on an optic. Now the big question.... what 6.5CM rifle is it going on?

I'm pricing out the Howa HCR. Originally I wanted to stick an R700 action into a chassis because they are generally more comfortable to me, even though I think most of them look weird.

The HCR stands out to me because I've hunted a lot using Howas and Weathery's with my family and I like the way the actions have felt plus they were all good shooters. My best friend used to do a lot of factory testing and his department was happy with them as well, especially considering the price point.

The HCR is a great rifle, but check out the new Howa Bravo too. I think your getting a better chassis with the Bravo.
