Are all dedicated weapon lights for rail attachment.

They are pricey but Surefire makes a replacement hand guard with X300 built into it.

Not sure how much your willing to spend, the above options are all good. If money is tight try a cheap one to try before finding what you really want and spending big $.

I have Streamlights and Surefires. Using them both and comparing I prefer the fit and ruggedness of the Surefires. I am buying one of those Steiner's for by Mossberg 500 - great price.

Surefire, yes they are expensive, but last forever. Look for a used Surefire dedicated fore-end for the shotgun, and you can always upgrade the lens assembly LED ect...They can often be found for around $100.

Yeah, buy Surefire - outdated technology at a premium price. After the s**t they've pulled the last few Black Fridays, lying to customers, etc, many have sworn never to spend a dime on their products.

I would recommend Streamlight first for value to money ratio, and a Surefire if you can get a deal.

For the AR, look at Streamlight's Protac series which comes with a rail mount and switch.

For the Shotgun, a recommend a CDM mount with the hand held light of your choice. They are extremely light weight and low profile.

I personally advise AGAINST the Surefire DSF series forends. I thought they were the coolest thing until I actually bought one and put it on my 870. Overpriced. If you tighten the forend nut down too tight the front end pinches down on the magazine tube and the gun won't cycle. It is also heavy which throws too much weight to the muzzle. I have a 28" hunting shotgun with all that barrel weight and it doesn't cause the awkward pinching in my elbow that the Surefire forend did on my 18.5". Not worth it.

I also have had Surefire's customer service not respond to my inquiries regarding random extra charges on orders from them.

I have an old Surefire Scout light, got it in 2008, and its been to both Iraq and Afghanistan with me. Granted its mounted on a 5.56 and not a shotgun but that thing is beastly. Robust, tough, and its like a small nuclear bomb goes off when you turn it on.
