The Burris MTAC 1-4 is still a very solid scope if all you need is 1-4X

The Millet scopes are actually pretty solid for the pricing, although they are very heavy and a tick overbuilt I had thier 1-4 on my loaner gun for years and it never skipped a beat. Not the worst glass, but nothing to write home about either, and the reticle is usable but outdated.
I think the RT6 will be my next purchase!

I'll talk to Vortex at SHOT and see what they say.
I think they learned their lesson and they no longer let me anywhere near their new stuff until they are confident in it, but maybe I'll snag one of the earlier models from them.

Just youtube PA ACSS. You'll find tons of reviews on people supporting my theory.

But to each their own. I wish my wallet allowed me the higher end stuff.
don't have to "operate", just need to learn once after watching your rifle fall optic first to the pavement from a truck bed.

I recently picked up the primary arms 1-6 acss, the scope is good quality, very clear at all zoom levels. I was more curious about the acss retical, would I buy it again?,

I don't think so, not because its a bad scope, I like a more precise cross hair and I know that is not the point of the acss, like I said I was more curious and it was christmass ;-)

Not sure if you already made your decision or not on this.

                  Steiner:
                  - Probably the best glass for the under $500 price range. The P4Xi is great value for the price, though it is under your preferred magnification given that it's a 1-4x. Obviously, go with what you feel is best, though I'd recommend considering that 4x may be entirely adequate. You'll be able to get out to 400+ yards with that without much issue.
                  - I'd also heavily recommend the Steiner M332, which is a fixed 3x prism optic. You can find these in used but good condition for $400. I have one on an ACR and once again, you can get out to 400 yards with it no problem. I want to reiterate how great the glass is on this optic, and Steiner in general. Only potential negative worth mentioning is that the field of view is just decent.

Aside from that, I have an ACOG with the ACSS reticle, and can't say enough good things about that reticle. Probably my current favorite. I can't personally speak to other details of the Primary Arms 1-6x, though the Gen III seems to be getting good reviews that claim high value for the price.

I got the PA 1-6 with the KISS reticle and I could not be more pleased. I always felt the ACSS reticle was too busy for my personal taste. The KISS gives a simple chevron with some extensions so you can still get some accurate holdovers based on MOA calculations. I like it a lot. If they had it on some fixed (3x,4x,5x) prism scopes I would get one or two in a heart beat.

A bunch of the scopes being mentioned here are second focal plane and others are first focal plane. Big difference in price, weight, and usage between the two. Choose accordingly.

True that, but in the mag range I am ok with using either 1x to get close to a RDS or zooming to max (where the BDC is calibrated on SFP)... I think everyone does that anyway.
