I have the Diamondback 4-16 on a APF 308 rifle and it works great, I've shot it out to 500 yards and the BDC works well for me. Glass is clear and it's a great value for the money.

The Trigicon Accupower line is a bit above your budget but they offer 3 different reticles including a moa/moa setup.

You could jump up to the Viper HS 4-16x44 with that budget, otherwise the Diamonback is a great value

The BDC reticle works well for distance compensation, assuming you do your part of running a ballistic chart and truing it.

Not sure exactly what you mean by "accurate enough to range" but BDC reticles are not designed to estimate range. They work by knowing distance to target.

If I remember right, they may not be making it anymore, but I have seen ads for them on sale recently for $350
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the Viper should be better glass than the crossfire and diamondback.

Second. I have an older SS model, before SWFA took over production. Good glass, great tracking. Etched moa reticle iirc.

Like i mentioned in a post above, check out Atibal. The manufacturer that makes Vortex, also makes these. The owner stumbled upon it. They are fantastic sights. I have a few and am very amazed.
