Zeiss " Conquest question

Hey All,

Gonna be getting a LR bolt gun 600-800 yards probably. This seems like a pretty good deal can anyone give me any input on quality and price? The 5-25 is a great deal it seams.

Maybe I'm missing something, but looks like both 5-25x are regular price

Otherwise, the Zeiss Conquest scopes are nice. I think one of their best features is low light performance which tends to favor hunting applications but their clarity should serve you well in LR shooting as well.

We have a little better price on the Conquest HD5 5-25

More of a hunting scope than LR in my opinion. No exposed turrets and no ranging reticle available. Ziess definitely makes some good glass but by no means would this optic be a top choice for my tactical LR bolt gun. Looks like the sale is on bdc or plex reticles too...again maybe a good choice for a hunting rig.

Hey All,

Saw a nice sale on one of the 5-25x50 HD5's with the RZ1000 reticles for $799 so I got it. Should arrive tomorrow. We will see how it goes with my Savage Ashbury .308 I' am buying this morning.

Well here it is very happy with it for $799 but doesn't mean squat till I get her out on the range. 10 more days of jail for the Savage Ashbury :<)

A 1" tube? How is the FOV? I had a Carl Zeiss 1.2-5x36mm Duralyt Scope w/#60 Illuminated Reticle and its only fault was poor FOV. And mine had a 30mm tube.

I really love Zeiss's glass but agree with the above stating that their products are more oriented towards hunting applications. I have one of their range finders which is fast and makes me happy every time I use it, but doesn't have angle compensation. Likewise I think you will soon discover there are advantages to having a Milling reticle of some kind, exposed/matching (mil) turrets, and either a FFP or fixed power set up for long range shooting.

The top of the RZ1000 Reticule has ranging hashes on it so got that covered. I' am sure there are some thing I won't like but I needed a good scope for 600to 1000+ yards and this was the best I could afford in that class. Don't get me wrong Nikon, Vortex have some great scopes but for the quality and the features I thought this would be my best buy and I looked for a few months at different scopes specifically for long range target shooting.

I have a Nikon M-308 +20 moa one piece ring and prs stock coming and the Ashbury comes out of jail in 9 days. I won't really know how good the scope is till I get out in shoot it or hell at least mount it :<). being matched up with the Savage ashbury 24" Precision .308 rifle should really bring out the best of the scope I would think though.
