An Acog isnt something I would buy without ever shooting. You need to be consistent with your eye position or they are a pain in the d*** to use. I hated them until the Army forced me to learn on the TA32 M150 and I hate them even more now.
On the other hand they are durable , accurate and a pretty awesome option for optics. They are worth the steep price tag if you only want to buy one optic or plan on beating the **** out of your rifle.
The downside to buying used is in the Tritium , some of the older models can have Trit that doesnt glow like it used to , its a pretty penny to fix and really makes you weigh the pros/cons of buying used.WTB:

You can look through the glass on an ACOG all day long and not get a headache.. You can beat the crap out of them and they hold their zero, I'd say they are worth every penny.

Fixed power really simplifies your life once you understand where your shots will land. Owned other high end optics like a Leupold Mark 8 1-8, and a VX-6HD, when it came to shooting I always preferred the ACOG.Comment

I have been very happy with the two ACOGs I have (TA11E 3.5x; 5x50) and all my trij scopes have been fantastic.
They truly are worth every penny
The ones complaining about eyebox issues are probably running the 3x or 4x and they do have a bit tighter eyebox tolerence.
