How to mount a bipod on an AR 15 without a rail?

Hey all,

I'm looking for recommendations on what bipods work with an AR with no bottom rail. I've seen some that attach to the bayonet lug but those have mixed reviews. Anyone have any suggestions?

If you have a Magpul or similar handguard:

If you have the stock A2 handguard you can mount a sling swivel in one of the holes:

If you have a free floating handguard with 10-32 tapped holes, you can just use a standard sling swivel:
