Optic Placement

After some research, there seems to be a wide range of placement suggestions. Some like it centered over the ejection port, some like it closer to the rear. I know it all boils down to personal preference, but what's yours, and how did you come to your conclusion?

Eye relief is more of a determinate of optic placement. Using pic rails and one piece mounts makes this much easier. Mount the optic snug in the mount, set your stock length of pull, set the optic at its highest power, then move the optic/mount to where the image fills the lens. Then level the optic.

Eye relief as stated above.

That's why there are a variety of 1 piece mounts; some push an optic forward while maintaining their installment on the AR receiver rather than the handguard.

There are red dots/etc. that have infinite eye relief though. For those specifically, it comes down to personal preference.

As stated...it's all about eye relief

Whether it's a red dot or a scope...the manufacturer of quality optics states
the range of eye relief for their product

So in the end...your length of pull and where your cheek lands when you mount the weapon...will decide how far or close, within the stated range of eye relief, where to place your optic

Is the point of proper eye relief different with a Trijicon MRO, since it is not the same size from front to back?

Sorry if that's a silly question, but I'm not sure I'm getting what "eye relief" actually is.
