    Eotech XPS2

Does anyone know if the new EOTech XPS2-1 has exact cowitness or lower third cowitness? And what mount does it come with?

Better yet... does anyone have one they can comment on?

You order one of these on the group buy ??... think I saw your screen name on a PM.

I ordered a XPS 2.0.. which (I believe) has the standard 65/1 reticle. Looking at the size measurements of a 512(no riser) and a 516(7mm riser) ... I am pretty sure the XPS is going to be absolute co witness ... much like the 512.

I would rather have the sight up higher ... so was going back and forth between a 516 and XPS .... but ... I want to try the new battery mount ..as this seems to be the weakest link in the older design.

I can wait for some one to make an XPS mount to raise it a bit ... until then ... I will run it on the rail.

I wonder how long the delivery time will be .... I don't think they are actually available yet.

Not to thread jack, but what's the difference between the XPS2-0, XPS2-1 and XPS2-2? The descriptions all look the same...

Nevermind, found the answer on opticsplanet

Some dumb things that I noticed about the XPS:

        1. Absolute co-witness instead of lower 1/3. Why didn't they make this new site have an integral riser like the rest of their models?

        2. No side buttons. Again, same point as #1. They should have just replicated the same changes for their new models into this one. I'd buy one with reticule #2 if they had both of these new options.

Absolute co-witness gives you the option of running it either way, and you can put a LaRue (or whatever) mount on it if you want. Lower 1/3 built in takes away that flexibility. Most of their models are absolute co-witness.

As for the side buttons, I don't think there's room for them in the short package. It's a trade-off.

511/512/551/552 are all absolute cowitness. Most Eotech's absolute co-witness unless you put them on a riser. The 517/557 are the only exceptions I've seen, and after messing around with both, I like my 552's better.

Each to his own, I suppose. I'm exceedingly happy that the interface and positioning is the same as most other Eotech's. The added height would be a usability compromise that I don't like at all. Get a flip front sight and there's no good reason to mount the Eotech any higher.

The back vs. side buttons don't bother me much either way. One's a little more accessible, one's a little more protected. I don't spend a lot of time fiddling with the buttons, even on early morning hunts.
