    MI Light Weigt Free Float Handguards

    I want to replace my Knights Armament Quad Rail with a MI Light Weight One Piece Free Float Handguard M-LOK 12". It comes with a 2" picatinny rail and key holes for a sling mount. The only weigh about 8.5 oz's and the quad rails are weigh heavier. I could go with a MI 15" that only weighs about 9.5 oz's and that would leave it an 1" shot of the suppressor. I forgot, it will go on my Noveske. The MI handguards have a reasonable price compared to other high end handguards.

    Anyone have any recommendations for another light weight non quad rail handguards? Oh! I forgot mention that the Knight Armament requires a special tool remove or install them.

    Other than the BCM KMR, I think MI has the lightest weight handguards unless you want to go exotic materials and/or extreme skeletal designs at ridiculous prices.

    BTW, you're in the wrong sub-forum. This is for optics.

        K1Dude; The forum says Optics, Mounts, Rails and Sights that is why I went with this forum. Isn't the MI Light Weight One Piece Free Float Handguard another way of mounting optics, mounts, rails, sights, lasers and flash lights?

        For my Noveske I wanted something a lot lighter to mount my ACOG and other accessories other than heavy Knights Armament Quad Rail.

        G38xOC;

        I like the 12" MI but I could go longer. I still have to take it to a gunsmith to remove my Knights Armament quad rail, I sure hope he has the right tool.

          My bad. You're correct. It's just that you'll get a much better response if you post in one of the more active sub-forums like General Gun Discussions or Centerfire Rifles - Semi-automatic or Gas Operated.

          Typically very few people visit this sub-forum and if they do, they're looking for optics info.

            Are you talking about the hex wrench that comes in the KAC box?

              No its not the hex wrench, it takes some special tools to remove the Knights Armament quad rails and also need to install them which costs $118 to get. And from what I found out you need to be an Armorer or Gunsmith to remove them.

                I ordered the 15" Midwest Industries free float handguards with M-LOK from Cheaper Than Dirt and I got $10 with free shipping. It was the best deal.

                  Guntec has some very lightweight and reasonably priced handguards, I got mine from Desert Strike Tactical, I have nothing to do with the company.

                        I have MI freefloats on 4 ARs, one of them a 308, and none of them move if properly installed.
