    killFlash?

First off, let me start by saying I have a Trijicon 4x32 ACOG Scope (TA31ECOS)

Because of the amount of money I spent on it, (and it was worth it, it's a great piece of glass) I'm pretty protective of it.
Someone mentioned to me (at the range) about getting a killFlash for it to 'protect the glass'
Now honestly, I'd be shocked if a piece of debris bounced back from 100+ yards and pinged the thing.

Plus, I've heard that it fouls the optics a bit (darker picture, a little hazy)

Basically, does anyone here have experiences with killFlash mounts, and are they even worth bothering with?

    Thanks!
    Brian

They're neat to have and does keep your front element clean, you can even use a lens cap with it to make it an occluded gun sight. Some people who want to use lens cap ala the Progressive Machine setup have bought the kill-flash and lens cap than simply snip out the honeycomb shell.

But they definitely make the sight lose it's crisp image and really does nothing that I would pay for. If it came with the ACOG I'd keep it, otherwise I wouldn't pay for it. Let's just say that anything flying back with enough power to scratch or break the ACOG front element is going to be more of a danger to you.

      Ah, thanks for the info.
It's pretty much what I've heard from other folks.. And since I don't plan on being stalked by counter-snipers, it's probably not worth getting.

On the other hand, I can get one for about $20, and it might be nice to just have as front glass protection for travel and storage...

      hrm...

I've used them. They are nice. Keeps alot of the dust from reaching the front lense as mentioned. Also allows you to use flip-up caps to further protect the lenses. I would leave the honeycomb in place. It has a purpose. It does not bother your vision after a use or two...you get used to it...even start to like it. The advantage is, if it ever hit the fan then it is something you would want. No reflection off the lense. If your AR with the ACOG on it is not the first thing you would run to get if a Red Dawn like event happened, you probably don't need to spend the money. But if your AR is the end all be all of your gun collection, it is a nice addition.

it also operates as a sunshade.

Mine came with them, but I don't think I'd buy them intentionally.
