    Mini 14 Glass

I have searched on this site and I can not find some advice on an avergae to above average scope for my mini14.
I want to use to shoot targets, varmints, and sniping up to 400 yards(Since I believe that to be the range of the mini)
Can I get some direction from some veterans out there and some thought on what I will be spending. I realize that $700 is probably the bottom line.
Thanks and God Bless our rights!

    I wouldn't spend more than $500 on a scope for a mini-14 and wouldn't expect to hit anyting past 300 yards. My mini-14 has a 100 yard moa of 2". at 300 yards that's a 6" group.

My mini-14 has a Bushnell Elite 4200 2.5-10x40 Matte Rifle Scope, although I prefer shooting it with the Iron Sights.

Here are some scopes I would recommend.
      Leupold Mark 4 1.5-5x20mm MR/T one-inch tube
      Leupold Mark 4 1.5-5x20mm MR/T M2 Illum. Matte
Burris EURO DMND 1-4X24MM PLOCK GER 3P4 MAT
      Trijicon TR21 ACCUPOINT 1.25-4X24

The mini I shoot has a 3-9 x 50 on it and its too much scope. It makes the gun not balance well in my opinion. A lighter weight 1 to 4 power scope works great because you can do super fast close range stuff which the Mini 14 is meant for, or you can still reach out to 400+ yards which the Mini can do. 10 inch plates at 300 yards arn't a problem for the mini, of course it has a 2.5 lb trigger which doesn't hurt.

If you want a Trijicon Accupoint let me know. If you don't want the scope mount I can separate the two for you.

My Mini has an older Leupold Vari-X IIc 3-9x40 in Ruger rings, and it works pretty well - it's a pretty light and sleek scope for that range. My friend's Mini has an Eotech on an Amega scout rail, and it's a good bit faster and handier, as you'd expect, but doesn't do the longer ranges as well.

I recommend a wide field of view. You'll need it.
