    Scope ring height

I'm trying to get this rifle setup.I borrowed the scope off my RPR to try and figure it out.Scope is a Burris XTRII 5-25x50 34mm tube, rings are 1.5" tall and rail on the rifle Is 0 MOA.Obviously it's way to tall, hard to measure but it looks like a 7/8" gap between lense cover and barrel. If i use a scope with a 30mm tube and 1" tall rings would it still be too tall?My best guess would be 3/8 of a inch between the lense cover and barrel. If I used a 30mm scope would it set any lower?

    Nightforce 20moa Scope Base (rail)
    Bushnell HDMR 3.5-21x50 34mm Scope

To mount the scope, I used Seekins 34mm LOW rings. Per Seekins, these rings were 0.92" high.

-edit- I just came across the following which might be useful to you.

From the calculations off the link 1" tall rings will net me a gap of .49".Still to tall so it looks like I need to go with .75 or .85 tall.I may order both to check and send the other set back.

I don't know why you are concerned about getting the absolute bare minimum gap when the cheek piece is adjustable.

The check piece is adjustable on the RPR not the x-bolt.Sorry I should have mentioned x-bolt in the original post.
