I'm looking for suggestions for an unusual optic. I've got a DRD Tactical takedown .380 with the matching case. (picture from google)
The purpose of this case is to allow the rifle to travel with me, both on overlanding trips and airline travel.

The rifle itself uses the top of the case. The rest of the case is uncut foam, with measurements of a 16"x11"x3" block of foam. The "tray" that holds the lower sits on top of this foam block. Any optic is going to be taller then 3 inches, so they need to lay flat on their side, and that measurement needs to be 2.5" or less so that I can still have 1/2 inch of padding so the TSA does not break things.
The top shelf where you see a micro red dot in the picture is 1.5" wide. I don't really want to do a red dot, as I'm going to want to shoot farther then a fixed 1x.
Optimally, I'm looking for something with a bit of magnification, but can also be used at 1x. I'd really like to do a variable low-magnification scope in the 1-4, 1-6, or 1-8 range. The optic needs a QD mount like an ADM or LaRue as it isn't going to fit in the top shelf of the case.
It seems that every low magnification variable optic that I can find is wider then the 2.5 inches the foam allows for. I've also looked at the S&B short dot and the Elcan DR 1-4, where both of these are also too wide.
I could do an ACOG and lose the 1x but I can't find specs on how wide they are.
Does anyone know of an optic that would fit?
