    Thoughts on Meprolight M21

Picked this up for a great price on Amazon if all places...I know some have reported washout issues under some conditions, but supposedly the latest -M iteration has addressed it to some degree.

I like the no-battery aspect, and figure if it's good enough for the Israelis the. Its good enough for me LOL

Still trying to figure out if it goes on my Beretta ARX or AR...

    What say you guys?

Huh, no wonder I didn't really find anything using search.

Have just played with it a bit so far, haven't mounted it yet.
It has a triangle reticle, which I've read makes it easier to use against targets at a distance, using the tip of the triangle versus a dot that could obscure the target area.

The reason I was drawn to it, is the self-illuminating tritium reticle so no batteries.

        A few thoughts initially:
My eyesight is very poor (-9 nearsighted), and with my coated eyeglasses I see partial halos around the reticle (halo is in different spots depending on left/right eye). I recall this issue with some optics but not others. No issues with my contacts.

If I'm inside and somewhat dark, it's easy to lose the reticle against very bright outdoor targets.
A little squinting and I can regain sight of it.
I think it would be tough if inside very dark cover, and attempting to quickly acquire a target in bright daylight.

Reticle is very bright in daylight, and bright in the dark (taking the aforementioned into account of course).

Build quality seems very tough, weight seems average, it's certainly no lightweight nor did I expect it to be.

Not sure if I'll put it on my Beretta ARX, or my AR...I'll try both and see which is more comfortable for me.

Still pretty new to rifles, never owned one in CA due to laws I didn't agree with, but recently moved to Dallas so I don't have to neuter my long guns

It's really great living in a free state...

I have one with the circle dot "Bullseye" reticle. I have not mounted it either. Well I did mount it, but it has no home yet. Seems like a great sight for the price paid, but I got it 65% off.

I added the WOR that eliminates the sighting in a dark place into a light place wash-out. This works very well making the reticle much brighter. Really need to shoot it a bit outdoors before making any sort of call, but it seem highly regarded enough. I'm not giving up my Aimpoint PRO for it. It might end up on a Socom 16 if the mount works well there.

Yeah I have both. I'd take a my PRO over it, but it is real nice for under $200 - was a steal. Overpriced at MSRP.

The WOR sorta looks fragile, like it could hang-up on something. Ever had an issue? Other than losing it LOL

                        Feels kind of fragile too

The mounting plate is sturdy, no issues, but the rheostat and unit itself are cheap IMHO. I'm curious if the fixed on/off model is tougher. No failure yet or anything, but the knob is real vague for the off setting detent. Feels like a cheap flashlight - which it is. Does light up the reticle... probably a better way to do it. No real worries though. The M21 works fine without it.

Might repurpose the plate with a different micro light someday.

Does only the reticle light up, or does it make the exterior of the optic (the white fiber optic area) glow also?
