it's been interesting learning more about all of this. i guess a lot depends upon the torque needs of the particular platform and application.

Here's the Conversion Formula: Newton Meters x 8.85074579 = Inch Pounds

some of my rings require for example 15 in lb.

converting from nm that means: 1.69 nm

a lot of the wrenches i came across started at 2-3 nm (or 17.7 in lb - 26.5 in lb)

^So what did you end up with for a torque wrench?

i like the 'slimness' of the Vortex wrench but because of cost i went with the Wheeler a few years ago but i see now Wheeler has a digital Fat Wrench which is pretty cool.

          i went with this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...LASGYIQR&psc=1

          and this:

          and this:

          total $35.55

I haven't received them yet but hopefully should be good to go, should afford me enough range for not only scope mounting but also for my bike.

I got this Wiha set from Sears a few years ago for like $35. It must have been a close-out sale with like 1 or 2 left in stock. Because it's a $245+ set normally. So I'm happy!

The dissapointing aspect of the Vortex tool is that the bits that it comes with didn't fit either my American Defense mount or the Tikka/Sako mounts...so you're stuck having to purchase additional bits.

Do you know if the Wheeler bits fit in it?

i tried the bits from my Wheeler gunsmith 89 piece screwdriver kit....while they fit, they fall out so you have to hold onto them while you use the torque wrench tool.

The bits that came with the Vortex system integrated/attached firmly/nicely.

Not sure if its magnetic or a dimensional problem. I will have to play with it some more, maybe this weekend.

update: received a response from Vortex and they said their tool should fit any 1/4inch driver bit.
