    Hunting Scope for 300 winmag

I'm trying to find a scope that checks all the boxes. Currently I have a Vortex Razor HD Gen 2 3-18x50 that I'm trying to sell. I love everything about the scope except the weight. Are there any comparable scopes that still offer the wide magnification range and adjustability, but in a lighter package?

Don't know what that puppy weighs, but this is 21oz.

Glass weighs a lot. Imho buy a quality scope with the same magnification but with an 40 or 42 mm objective lenses. You loose a bit of low light ability but save on the heft of the scope. Leopolds are usually some of the lighter quality scopes out there. Here are some scopes that come in at 12-13 oz
      AR Mod 1 4-14x40 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AB446Z0...=32GBLD7SVZK0Y
      vx-2 4-12x40 (for $220?!?) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006PH6ESY...=32GBLD7SVZK0Y
and for something from a new company, an Athlon Argos 3-15 x 42 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BNM48ZG...=32GBLD7SVZK0Y
Vortex has a Dimondback HP 4-16x42 that comes in at 18 oz, less than half the weight of your current scope, plus it has an 80 MOA adjustment range. I'm seriously thinking about picking this up for a "long range" rifle project http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/...ld-bdc-reticle

Yeah, everything I mentioned costs considerably less than your Viper, but they all weigh less, and one may work for you

If you're shooting a .300 WM, you're using it to hunt large game. I would get an adjustable power scope in the range of about 2.5-8 with a 32 or 36 mm objective. I have a Leupold 2.5-8 on my .30-06 and a Vortex 2-7 on my .243. Both are more than adequate for big game hunting at practical distances.

The only high power scope I have is a 4-16 mounted on a .223 I use for shooting squirrels at distance.

If you put a high power scope on your rifle, you will need to keep it turned down for target acquisition anyway. I've also found I shoot better off portable rests (at the range at least) with the scope turned down to about half its maximum power.

Leupold Mark 6 3-18x44 is right around the same price point as the Vortex Razor Gen II...same magnification but lighter

Nightforce ATACR 4-16x-50 is another great option

Sig Tango 6 3-18x44 is lighter as well

Lots of great options at that price point

I have looked extensively at the leupolds but the lack of MOA reticles is tough. My mind works in MOA as opposed to Mil. Would love for them to come out with MOA.
Leaning toward the NF atacr, just need to find a buyer for the Razor HD. Slightly concerned with the lesser eye relief, but not a huge deal.
              Appreciate the insight.
