    Spotting Scopes

I am not sure if there is a thread in which a list of the top spotting scopes is put together; If not, maybe we should have one? If so, heck yes! Point me to it...

I am looking for one that can easily see a target 1000yards away...

Maybe put out a format in which Brand, Specs and Yardage comes into play?

Most any spotting scope can 'see' the target at 1000 yards away.

If you want a quality scope that can be used to read mirage and watch bullet trace, then you should look into a:

    Kowa
    Zeiss
    Swarovski
    Bushnell Elite (ED glass)

Get a 45 angled body since it's best for position shooting and a good scope stand + head.

You'll want a long eye relief eyepiece, and due to design, most LER eyepieces run magnifications in the 20x - 30x range. If you need more magnification, then you can always get one of the zoom eyepieces. The good thing about a good spotting scope is that they are designed such that you can switch eyepieces as needed.

The Kowa's seem to be the dominant players at the Sacramento 1,000 yard range.

Further, I just saw that Liberty Optics has a smoking good deal on them going right now.
