    Ruger Precision Rifle optic help

Hey guys, I just picked up a gen 2 RPR in 6.5 Creedmoor and I'm trying to decide on what optic I want for it. Right now I'm heavily leaning towards Leopold. However, I can't decide between their Mark 4 line or the Vx3i. Looking for the pros and cons of both or any personal use feedback. Mostly going to be used for long range target shooting. Preferably working up to 1000yds. Thanks!

      SWFA SS HD.

      Burris XTR II.

Either of the above are excellent choices, especially Burris since they have a variety of reticles available.

If you're ok with spending some more, Nightforce F1, USO or an S&B.

Leupold's quality is damn good. However, they don't offer the same amount of features and quality for their price compared to what you can get elsewhere.

Here's a prefect example, at $900 you get a second focal plane, a plain jane mil dot reticle, capped turrets, and non matching turrets and reticle, only a 3x zoom range, and a small 40mm objective.

Here's a Vortex Viper HSLR for the same price. You get first focal plane, a much easier to use reticle, matching turret and reticle, 50mm objective, a 4x zoom range, twice the top end magnafication.

Thats a lot more bang for your buck. I personally have the HSLR Viper and its great for shooting long range. Clear glass, positive clicks on the turrets, very easy to use reticle for wind holds, comes with a sun shade. The Burris XTR II is an even better choice with even more premium features. I believe CST sells them and would be a great choice as a vendor.

I agree the prices are a little steep but they do offer a generous discount to LEO and Military so that's one reason why I've been leaning their way. I've pretty much narrowed it down to either a Mark 4 LR/T or the VX-3i LRP.

The Mark 4 ERT does offer FFP but it starts at about $600 more than the LR/T
The VX-3i offers FFP as well at $600 less than the SFP Mark 4 LR/T and has about 10 more MOA in adjustments. 80 over 70 I think

Call or email Vortex. My son is a LEO and I know for a fact that they offer a very steep MIL/LEO discount as well. Its your money to spend as you wish, but if I were you I'd explore a few more options before I dropped the coin.

Spend the money and get a FFP. A FFP can do everything a SFP can plus more. A SFP can not do what a FFP does. I would give up 10 MOA for FFP, because I can hold over 10 MOA with my reticle set and any power with a FFP. 70 is also plenty even if you have a .308. Because you have 20 down on the RPR rail, then you only need about 40 up from your zero to get to 1000.

Wonder if CSTactical offers veterans a similar MIL/LEO discount?

To the OP; I own 2 MK4's and a Burris XTR II and the Burris has better glass IMO. I only hold onto the Leupold's because they're clone-correct (even though one is in the MP paired with an upper)

The Razor HD AMG is really good. I'm on the fence between which one I like better: Razor HD Gen II or the Razor HD AMG.

NF or if you are limited like I was, I went with the Burris XRT 2 . 5x25x50. Sweet glass and has the 34mm tube . Rings will cost you around $150 but the set up is great.
                          Good luck.

I used the Burris Extreme Tactical 6 screw per ring in 1.5". Perfect fit and optic lense clearance.
