hey guys has anyone tried this bushnell Riflescope Matte T Dot 730132P?

opticsplanet has it for alittle over 150, i know there are way better optics out there but i don't have the funds to spend 500 bucks on eotec or triji.
the customer reviews on website are good, has anyone handled one of these on their equipment?

I don't plan on putting it through rough conditions or anything. and again, I know there are way better optics out there but funds are not there

I've wanted one for a while, but haven't been able to get my hands on one. I've played with them and like them quite a bit. Optics are clear, eye box is large, and target acquisition is quick. Just wish there was a 3x version...

yeah that's true, I do want one but i want to hear people's opinion first. The 1x is what i dont like about it. where did you play with it, does a friend own one? what do they say about it?

I played with it at the last Crossroads of the West Show in Costa Mesa. Really pretty nifty. And although I do not have any personal experience with the optic outside of the show, I do have experience with a Bausch & Lomb Elite 4000 (now known as a Bushnell Elite 4200) and with a Bushnell Trophy 1.75-4x32 shotgun scope.

I have used both on my Remy 700, and both impressed me considerably. As the 1x32 is almost double the cost of Bushnell's other red dot Trophy sights, I can only presume that it is a robust and quality unit.

All this talk makes me want one more.

I don't have a Trophy, but they get good reviews from people who use them. I believe it's made in Korea, and has a 1 or 2 year warranty (can't remember), like many red dots. I think it's a little big and bulky for a red dot, but that's the tactical-look package.

The Holosight is the same thing as an Eotech, but with shorter battery life, no roll cage, and fewer brightness levels. It's a fine sight for the money if you like the Eotech style, and has a 2 year warranty.

Personally, I prefer the Eotech style, and would pop a little more for the Holosight if it were me, but different strokes...

Here's my standard post on the differences between the Eotech and the Bushnell Holosight:


The Bushnell Holosight and the Eotech use the same holographic technologies, and the Bushnells that look like the Eotech are made in America, in the same plant as the Eotechs. There are 2 styles of Bushnell Holosight now - the Eotech style, and the XLP, which is much more futuristic looking, and is made in Japan. The XLP is physically a completely different design, with a lower centerline of about 1.1", but still uses the same reticle. From a reticle perspective, there's very little difference between any of them except for max brightness.

Essentially, the Eotech style Bushnell is a pre Rev F Eotech (Eotech 502) without the hood.

Here are the key differences:

- The Eotech uses their Rev F technology (starting in 2005), which greatly extends battery life and gives a much wider range of reticle brightness, including more brightness at the high end, and has improved buttons. The Bushnells use the pre-Rev F technology still, with shorter battery life and less brightness range. The Rev F Eotechs are marked with an F on the hood, but the hood can be replaced or changed easily, so this isn't always a good indication.

- Battery life:
Eotech N battery version - 200 hours at the 12 (of 20) setting
Eotech AA version - 600 hours (alkaline), 1000 hours (lithium) at the 12 (of 20) setting.
Eotech CR123 version - 1100 hours at the 12 (of 20) setting
Bushnell N battery version - 40 hours life at the 12 (of 20) setting
Bushnell N battery new version (on/off switch) - 60 hours
Bushnell AAA battery version (XLP) - 100 hours life at the 10 (of 15) setting

There's no data I've found on battery life for the Bushnell AA version.

- The Eotech has a protective hood. The Eotech style Bushnell doesn't, and can't be retrofitted, though the hood is available as a replacement part through Eotech. The hood fits on a set of rails with tapped holes on the Eotech base that aren't there on the Bushnell. Both have encapsulated electronics for recoil and impact resistance. The Bushnell XLP has a hood built in to the design, but is not directly comparable to the Eotech design.

- The 55X models of the Eotech have night vision compatible settings in addition to the regular settings. The 51X Eotechs and the Bushnells don't have this.

- The 55X versions of the Eotech are waterproof to 33 feet, while the 51X versions and the Bushnell are waterproof to 10 feet.

- The Eotechs are available using N or AA batteries, and the new 553 uses CR123 version. The Eotech style Bushnells are available using N batteries, and had an AA version that's not available in their current catalog (though there are indications they'll release one as part of their new line). The Bushnell XLP models use AAA batteries.

For all of them, if you use lithium batteries, you dramatically increase battery life, especially at low temperatures, but the low battery indication doesn't work with lithium batteries. Note that N batteries aren't generally available in lithium. Also, there have been a number of problems reported with N battery Eotechs draining the battery rapidly, even while off. The conventional wisdom is to use name brand batteries to help avoid this, but there's little hard data on this problem.

Both brands have a 2 year warranty.

You can't go wrong with Bushnell,I heard that it was kinda heavy but for the price, you are good to go.If you are not taking it somewhere like Iraq/Afganistan then that should do it for just target shooting.....I though about buying one too but I have a lot of priorities.

I have the trophy 1x28 with 4 interchangeable reticles and so far its great. I haven't had any range time with it but taking it outside in bright conditions and inside in dim conditions it has quite a range of brightness. I got mine off the sample list from swfa for 65 bucks with a leupold QD 30mm ring so I thought it was a good deal. The same ones are going on gunbroker for over 100 with no ring at all. It didn't co-witness with my irons so I'm having to get a riser but the one you're interested in should work with irons just fine. The quality seems to be really good and they tested it on some pretty gnarly guns out there so I feel like it'll hold up. Too bad you weren't asking 2 weeks ago cause a guy had 2 cantilever mounts, bushnell trophy red/green dot with 4 reticles. Good luck with your decision.

get the "demo" model (all reviews said it was same as new, just a factory demo) for $154 then use the "award8" coupon I oposted about when checking oput for an additional 8% discount. best deal around on it.

BTW, I gave serious consideration to the Bushnell Holosight as I really wanted an EoTech. But after considering how I would use it, I just couldn't justify spending and extra $300 for an EoTech or even an extra $110 fo the Holosight. If having the "real thing" is worth the extra money to you then by all means go for it. Me? I'm using the extra money I saved towards another handgun purchase
