How to Zero a Scope?

At 100 yard:
1) Do you turn to highest magnification or leave it at the lowest?
2) After done zeroing at Highest or Lowest, what happen when you adjust to mid-magnification (as an example), does the POI change or not?

I would suggest zeroing at the highest magnification. That should allow you to shoot the tightest groups because of the more consistent point of aim.

After zeroing, adjusting the magnification should not change the POI.

Also if you are shooting expensive ammo I would recommend bore sighting to start and then working from there.

The last few zeros I have done 3-shot groups. I used to do 5 but I switched to 3 and got the same results. Shoot 3 rounds, adjust, shoot 3 more, adjust, etc.

I used to zero our iron sights with 5 shots too and quickly realized I'm wasting time and ammo so went back to popular 3 shots.
I have been switching and experimenting different front posts so with those 2 extra unnecessary ammo add up fast.

Doesn't matter. POI should not shift with a change of magnification. If it does, you either have a crap scope or something else isn't setup properly.

I shoot single shots until I get into the 10 ring. Then start shooting multiples to see a group form then work on moving the group over the X for the final zero.

I would also recommend starting this process at 50y, much easier to get on paper.
