I have 2 Ultra Dot 25s and one Ultra Dot 30, and one of the 25s is mounted on my bull barrel Ruger MkII for 3 or so years.

It's been great - reliable, long battery life, holds zero well, and very accurate. It's pretty bright, and I haven't had problems with it washing out, but I don't shoot it much in bright sunlight.

The rings that come with it are light, but aren't the greatest quality. They'll do, but I use different ones. It's a bit heavy (3.9 oz for 1", 4.8 oz for 30mm) compared to modern mini red dots, but lighter than the big tactical style red dots. I've shot them on a variety of guns with no problems.

Many red dots only have a one or two year warranty, and the Ultradot has a lifetime warranty, so that would be a good thing to check on the ones you're interested in.

If I were putting a red dot on my Ruger today, I'd be considering a mini red dot like the Burris Fastfire or RDP-II, or a T1 micro style.

I'm very happy with the Ultradot on my Ruger Mark III Hunter. As mentioned the rings are a bit "clumsy" when installing but hold tight once installed. Clear glass, minimal "bleed" of the dot, accurate, and has not drifted. Good battery life too and plenty of brightness adjustment range.

One of the new "micro" non-tubular red dots would save some weight though.
