Mount for Pistol Red Dot.

I'm thinking of putting a red dot on my carry pistol. I came across a few companies making mounts that go into the dovetail. Has anyone had any experience with any of these? I would like to try this first before I decide if I want to get the slide cut.

It works, but it puts the sight higher. If you want to co-witness iron sights, you will need a very tall front sight.

Its more for a trial~ish period. If it something that works for me I will have the slide cut.

You might consider trying one out first. Maybe find a friend with one, or even putting one on a .22 pistol. There's an adjustment that goes with using a red dot on a pistol and you may find (as many do) that it just doesn't work for you. I put one on a .22 which had a rail and tried it off and on for several years, but I never did get used to it and ended up abandoning the idea of a red dot on a pistol.

Burris make a Red Dot sight mount for Glocks also. $50

I've been looking around for these also. Other than being a little higher than a milled slide mount version, any known problems?

Buy another slide already cut out and done, swap over parts, see if you like it. If not, sell the slide.

Veggie, I have a Trijicon 06 on my full-size XD.45 and a Burris Fast Fire 3 on my S&W 625-8 both using dovetail mounting options replacing the rear sight with absolutely no issues and is great for my aging eyes.

Just installed a Balor this afternoon and took it to the range. Absolutely love it and did not take long to get use to the draw. Red dot is the way to go. Good option until you decide to get your gun milled to accept a rmr

Dueck Defense is the only way to go. It is the lowest profile, has built in quick acquisition irons built in and doesnt have any hideous overhangs like the rest of those on the market...

My G19 has one with a Burris Fastfire 3 and is awesome

I have the same question. I want to add a Fastfire III or a Delta Point Pro to one or two of my pistiols. Mostly Glock (stock slides and Lone Wolf) and a 1911 (GI sight cuts).

Dueck Defense looks good. Too bad it's only for Glock and M&P.
