The bushnell has amazing clarity. I bought a vortex 1-4x24 and was amazed at the bushnell.Originally posted by TonyNorCalIf I'm going to spend money to touch a woman then it's going to be at a Nevada brothel, on Craiglist hooker, or trolling the streets in a camper van.

I'm very happy with my vortex strike eagleOriginally posted by Jimi JahI punch paper only because it is illegal to punch people.Originally posted by elpaisa1I think flatulence is a more serious crime. I think it should be a misdemeanor with a 1000 dollar fine or 6 months of jail. It should be a felony if done near an open flame.

We have a 3-9 Bug Buster.. It started out life on a springer air rifle. Later, it was mounted on the 7.62x39 AR. It then moved to the chicken-defender 10-22 when the previous Simmons 22mag scope died. For the CD 10-22, it was chosen because of it's AO and lighted reticle features.
Very nice scope for what what it is. Small, well built, it holds zero, is tough, glass is good enough to use for 500 yrd silhouette shooting and under poor lighting conditions. I like the mil-dot reticle, the turrets tract, the AO can focus down to something like 3 yards, and it has a lifetime warranty. Imho it's one of the best sleeper scope that's on the market today.
As for Bushnell, we've owned several over the years. Warranty and customer service is great, but unfortunately we know that from experience. 5 scopes were sent back with issues, and 5 scopes were replaced, no questions asked. The only Bushnell that we own now is a trs25.Last edited by kenl; 09-24-2017, 7:32 PM.sigpic

The 1st question is what are you putting the scope on AND FOR WHAT PURPOSE? Plinking, target shooting, hunting or what.
Remember with optics you get what to pay for so cheap= junk to not so good and usually not rugged. Middle priced= not so good to better than the cost with various degrees of ruggedness and high dollar optics= excellent to super glass and sometimes ruggednessA 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

The budget scope I am considering putting on my 20" AR is a Primary Arms 4-14 x 44 in either a mildot or their "Christmas tree" reticle... I do not like the idea of a BDC reticle or the simple cross hairs for a "tactical" rifle... And that seems all that's available on cheap scopes. I have mil/mil on my Creedmoor and Lapua, so want to be consistent across my scopes. Also I don't like BDC because I don't want to be limited to one load which matches my reticle.Comment

I don't really favor anything on that Bushnell scope... I'm just saying I would take it over that UTG scope. The UTG has very little resale value, and the Bushnell IMO would hold more value and sell faster when you were done with it and ready to move up.
I don't like the erector assembly/housing on that optic.
I don't like that its a BDC based scope.
I don't like that the turrets dont match the reticle.
BDC with Exposed turrets make no sense to me... that optic should have been sold with tamper proof caps.
Optically its not bad at all for $100, but its not setup the way I would want, so I just pass on items like that. I also favor optics with matching reticle/turret setup because of the top of shooting I like to do and I like good value orientated glass that's generally better than average at a bare minimum... I've learned though use that its not magnification but optical performance that really make a scope shine. I have no problem shooting 12x12 steel plates out to 1000 yards with a good 4x or 6x max range.
The two brands I prefer, use and own right now, are the SWFA SS HD 1-6x and the Vortex PST 1-4x. Both of those are still budget minded value orientated "bang-for-the-buck" scopes to me.
It sounds like you are starting out... just get what you are comfortable with budget wise. We all had to start somewhere. I've just been there/done that with the entry level stuff and have developed preferences for my needs and wants which is why I ended up with what I have now.Last edited by ExtremeX; 01-07-2017, 3:16 PM.ExtremeXComment

Budget optics
UTG is fine for plinking, depends what you really want to do and the real cost of it failing in use... I have a UTG 1x Reddot on my Mini-14 tactical and it's performing very well... the dot is much smaller and more accurate than they advertised and I can easily shoot the gun's 1.5-2moa capability with that sight. It has even been very repeatable doing takeoff and reinstall with the QD base.
Would not take it to war. At about $65 it was certainly meant for airsoft, but it's working for my purpose.
