    XD site pusher.

Purchased one for glock and just picked up an XD. Hate to spend 130 bucks for another MGW, are there others that are cheaper that you might recommend? I prefer to do it myself otherwise I would just let a gunsmith do it.

Sight pushers are usually slower. A good Aluminum punch with some tape on the end is what you need. But I use the MGW Sight Pro. out of stock at brownells but you can get it else where. You just buy the slide shoes for your slide and it has 5 points of contact so the slide doesn't move. But XD sights are usually pressed in by god. Left to right with a good steel punch gets em out and doesn't damage them. They dented my mgw sight pusher. I use a steel punch now for XD sights.

The site pro is worth it in the end it looks like. I may just cinch it up in the vise and pound it.

      Thank you for the help

Which sights are you installing? Post pics when you're finished.

If you have calipers measure the distance the sides of the sights are from the side of the slide. Wow, what a sentence. If they are off more than .010 than each other correct em, any less than it'll be fine, your POI won't be off.

Brass punch with a flat tip and a hammer, don't believe the hype.

Did my XD sights in about 5 minutes.

Thanks gryff, nice offer. I would not want you have to do that. I may just buy one after seeing YouTube guys use a impact hammer or dremel them off. I have a glock mgw if you ever need one.

I may try the brass punch and solid hits as previously stated since it would be quick and cheap before I lay down the money.

                    Thanks again all

My XD40 was tight even with hitting with lube then freezer for 4 hrs, ended up dremelling as you mentioned. For the sight pusher just remember to over protect your slide from accidental slippage, I used popsicle sticks with duct tape on slide.

A hammer, $4 Harbor Freight C-clamp, and $5 nylon punch worked fine for my Glock

                        $130?

Usually won't work with an XD. The guns are notorious for having sights that are impossible to move in the dovetail. Even the sight pushers don't always work. On two of my guns, a buddy had to use liquid nitrogen to freeze then destroy the original sights to get them out.

I've been thinking about putting a fiber optic sights on my xd 45. Everything I've read on this site and from other site really makes me believe that this job requires a pusher. If you live in riverside county let me know. Maybe we could split the cost.
