Optic recommendation for AR47

In the process of building an AR chambered in 7.62x39. I'm starting with iron sights but was looking for some optic recommendations. Looking to spend no more than $200-$300.
Range-maybe looking to hit 200-300 yards. My eyes are bad so magnification is a must.

I'd go with Primary Arms 3x with 7.62x39 reticle.

Sorry to hijack, but I'm looking into something similar for my AR in 5.56. I've been looking at Primary Arms 3x or even their 1-4x or even the 1-8x variable with the 5.56 reticle. Starting to think the 1-8x would be a good way to go. With the reticle there seems to be good target acquisition with it set at 1x for anything close and then there is the ability to punch in.

My general use will be plinking at my range at targets - Steel, Paper mainly on the 100 yard range, but also we have a longer range out to 1000 (not that I'd be firing much past 2-300 with this AR.

Generally, why go with the fixed length 2.5, 3x, 4x vs a variable scope?

For my purpose under 100 yards, I went with a fixed 2.5x scope because of the longer eye relief, more compact setup and a wider field of vision.

I have a few for 556. Variable scopes for longer distance and a fixed 3x for about 100 yards. It's much lighter to carry around but all depends on what you are doing with it.
