Hello. Got a Barrett M99 in 416 Barrett, throwing on a NightForce BEAST scope with some NF rings. My torque wrench goes up to 55inlbs but I am pretty sure I need more. Does anybody know or have a recommended torque setting on these rings for this caliber?

What does the package the rings came in recommend? Thats what you should torque them to. Blue locktite is your friend.Join the NRA today! -
Cross bolts at 68 isn't my concern as much as 25inch lbs for the cap screws is. For extremely large calibers like this i usually use red, which is easily broken after they've put 100rnds through it. I don't want this scope shifting. Just seeing if anybody has a configuration like this and what they did to make sure the scope doesn't move.Comment

Heh, this is a scope only related question. Trigger/action jobs, custom builds, etc are my specialty. This is scope only related in terms of mounting proper torque. I would get a better answer here hoping somebody else has/had the same thing.
That's what I'm gonna do. Was maybe hoping somebody had an answer while I did some other work. I'll give em a ring 1st thing in the morning.

You are going to be really pissed if you tighten your rings-to-scope that tight.
Rings-to-base is typically 65 in/lbs for the large bolt style rings e.g. Badger...not sure about NF
Rings-to-scope is almost always between 10-15 in/lbs
Please don't ruin your BEAST. You should take your scope to a professional if you are not sure.
BTW, caliber doesn't matter. Rings are rings and scopes are scopes. They have torque settings on the packaging.Comment
