Been looking for a new scope for my Scar 17. I've got it narrowed down to the Primary Arms Platinum series 1-8 and the nightForce NXS 2.5-10x42mm. I usually don't have a chance to take it out past 200 yards. What do you guys think? Thanks

It really depends on what you prefer. From reticle to weight to eye box. If you are talking no further than 200 yards, you have TONS of options. If you are debating between a 1-8x and a 2.5-10x, I would say a 1-8x. But you have some 1-6x options as well. And a 1-6x vs 2.5-10x has a little more of a difference in my opinion.
It also depends on budget.
Vortex Razor 1-6x is great value for the money and great eye box. The reticle choices are simple and it weighs a TON. But, it looks, feels, and is pretty damn robust overall.
You got the Kahles 1-6 which is very similar to the vortex, except more expensive and quite a bit lighter.
If you go 2.5-10x type, I think the nightforce is the way to go. But if you want a FFP option, maybe a Vortex PST on the cheaper side.
I've been looking at the Burris XTR II 1-8. Haven't looked into much but it's a FFP and only $850 from Sport Optics.
Personally, I absolutely love the ACSS reticle. So the Platinum series 1-8 would be pretty cool with that reticle. -
I have the nightforce 2.5-10 on my 17, it's been on there since 2014. No issues after 2k rounds, it holds/returns to zero and tracks extremely accurately. If I had to be really picky I'd say the illumination could be brighter but I'm really happy with it. It is slightly heavy but I'll take the weight penalty for the extreme durability it possesses.Comment

The original member of the Nightforce NXS riflescope family is making a limited debut again.
In order to meet customer requests for the discontinued NXS 2.5-10 x 24 compact riflescope, Nightforce is manufacturing a limited run this fall. The NXS 2.5-10 x 24 is unique in that it has a straight body tube to the objective lens, which provides for a very compact package (9.9 inches in length).
For many years, the Nightforce NXS 2.5-10x family —proven in the hands of the U.S. military—has been renowned for performance far beyond its size. The NXS 2.5-10 x 24 was an original contract riflescope on the U.S. military Mark 12 5.56mm Special Purpose Rifle (SPR) program.
This limited run will see the NXS 2.5-10 x 24 receive modern enhancements over the original production models. Included will be an integrated Nightforce PTL™ (Power Throw Lever), allowing instant magnification changes even while wearing gloves. The elevation and windage adjustments are of the most current design, providing extremely positive click feel and easy to read numbers. Adjustment configurations are in .250 MOA (20 MOA per revolution) or .1 Mil-Radian (5 Mil-Radian per revolution) increments, with an exposed ZeroStop™ elevation and a capped windage adjustment as standard. Reticle choices include the MOAR™ and Mil-R™.
As with all of the NXS 2.5-10x models, they prove that size is no substitute for quality, providing performance that exceeds most riflescopes of any size. In addition to being extremely popular on the various AR platforms, the low mounting profile, versatile magnification range and streamlined proportions also make it ideal for a mountain or safari rifle.
These limited run Nightforce NXS™ 2.5-10 x 24 models have an MAP is $1,892.00.

If you're interested, I have an unfired Trijicon Accupoint 1-6 Green BAC triangle mounted in a Borbo (Trijicon) QD mount that I will let go for a really good deal. I mounted the scope but it has been sitting in my safe because I have more optics than rifles.Comment
