Scope mount help

How do I decide which scope mount to go with? I see so many. Other than ring sizing, i'm not real sure which one to go with.

I decided on Vortex Viper PST MOA for my REPR(hope this works out)

You need the bell to clear your forend or barrel. Since you need to clear a picatinny rail, I'd just go with a 1.5" standard one-piece AR mount.

so a Larue SPR QD LT104 mount will work, or should I think about MOA adjusted mount like the LT112 20MOA PSR?

I'd go with a 20 MOA base with a Vortex PST. (I am assuming it is a 4-16 or 6-24 as it'll let you get out further.)

It sounds like you pretty much picked your mount. I can't see any issue with your choice.

Got the same scope. Rifle is chambered for 6.5 CM. This thing shoots lights out. I bought a Vortex mount, medium height if I recall correctly. If I did it again, I'd get a high mount so I had more adjustments with the PRS stock.

@sir toast. whats the height of the one you have? And what is clearance between rail and bottom of the Bell?

Not sure. It is the standard Vortex mount. There is plenty of room under the bell. This is the one I believe I bought:

If you're going for precision shooting, you're better off with a non-QD mount or rings. You'll also want to get the scope as close to the bore as possible instead of lifted high off the rifle. But you're limited by the scope's objective bell diameter and your cheek weld. If you have no need for a QD mount, don't get one.

If you're mounting a scope on an AR-pattern rifle, height isn't really a concern because a) it's standardized, and b) that standardized height will accommodate virtually any scope bell. A one-piece cantilever mount will take care of that while pushing the scope forward to allow proper eye relief without needing to be mounted in contact with the handguard.

So take height out of the equation. A +20 MOA mount will help if you're truly shooting long distance. QD is a personal choice, but think about how often you plan to be taking this scope on and off the rifle.

I'd say the final consideration is buying a reliable mount from a dependable manufacturer. LaRue is top-notch, but there are others -- ADM and Bobro are at the higher end in price; the Burris PEPR mount is often cited as being the least expensive mount of this style that's still reliable.
