    Vortex strike eagle 1-6x24

Picked up a couple from Optics Planet based on the post in the deals section.

Mounted one on an M1A and the other on an HK 91.

I'm having an issue with removing the left cap off to install the battery. It is on so tight can't get a decent grip to loosen it. The other one's cap came off easy.

    Already tried vise grips etc.

    Suggestions?

Take a lighter maybe, or give it a couple of knocks with a rubber mallet, preferably a small screwdriver with a rubber grip

I'd send Vortex an email. They seem to be a company that sticks behind their product, you might be able to get a replacement.

I have the same exact scope and the vortex logo fell off as soon as I removed it from the box. It's their budget line so you can expect it to be rough around the edges with the occasional defect.

I went back and put a vise grip on the cap vertically and another on the dial horizontally. Tapped the vertical vise grip a couple of times. It loosened up and I was able to get the cap off.

          All is good.

I been looking to get one for an AR. Would you recommend it?

Yes. You can also checkout ones by Primary Rms, Bushnell, Burris and Leupold. Different prices but they all work on an AR.

How do you establish a cheek weld with your scope mounted so high? Chin weld?
