I have a Sadlak mount on my M1A standard. I'm mounting a Nikon P-308 and need some advice on scope ring height. The Nikon M-308 mount looks like quality but the rings are high. Any suggestions on ring height?

M1A scope ring height on Sadlak

I have found the lowest rings possible are the best to give a good cheek weld otherwise the scope sits too high. However, my experience has been with SA Gen 1 mounts. My assumption is your mount will be about the same height. The only thing that is worse than an idiot, is someone who argues with one. -
Find a store with rings. Lightly mount the lower half on the pic rail, rest the scope in the lower half. See if objective clears. Orrrr if you can balance the scope and rifle, stack quarters evenly on the mount until the objective clears. Measure the stack.
Also, TNVC makes a cheek riser setup specifically for the M1A's.

I just went through the same thing your going through with my M1A. Get the lowest possible rings you can buy. Even then your going to have to buy a cheek riser no matter what. Love my Sadlak mount, extremely stable and solid scope mountYes my hat is made of tin foilComment

I have a Promag mount on my M1A, looks to be the same height as the Sadlak.
I'm using Warne 1" height rings on a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14x40.

There are low height 1 piece mounts from ADM and others.
I also have a ARMS 18 mount and it is lower than my Sadlak - may want to look into that for a lower height over bore.
Usually the limiting factor will be the ocular end bell and the height over the rear sight.
I am using Warne Med. ht rings on both my rifles with 44 mm objective scopes.sigpic
