Issues with barrel nut and barrel nut wrench

So almost a year ago, I purchased an AR15 receiver set that came with a handguard and (you guessed it) a proprietary barrel nut for that handguard. The company included a barrel nut wrench which is basically like an oversized crow's foot adaptor.

Long story short, the barrel nut wrench that I was sent wasn't machined correctly, and when I went to remove the barrel nut to swap barrels recently, it damaged the barrel nut to where I can't get it off with it.

Has anyone else ever encountered a QC issue of this kind before?

What brand rail? Some people end up cutting off the barrel nut very carefully as last resort to get it off.

This was a set from F-1 Firearms in Texas.

Everything about it is beautiful, although to be honest, timing the barrel nut so the top rail lines up perfectly is a total pain with this handguard.

And I don't think I'lll have to cut it off necessarily, Going to use the screw mounting points for the handguard to loosen it enough to remove by hand. But either way, I won't be able to properly torque it back down if I wanted to re-use it.

Which I don't, because the wrench damaged the edges of the barrel nut to where they are now interfering with the fitment of handguard.

Just wondering if this is more common than it seems. I've built at least a dozen AR pattern rifles over the years, and never encountered a problem like this with a tool.

Couldn't find a replacement barrel nut or wrench on their website. So I sent them an email hoping to get a price. And instead they are just going to send out a new nut and wrench. So +1 to them for awesome service.

          Yes.

My standard AR15/M16 3 pin wrench does not fit my Nordic Components barrel nut. I had to modify the wrench.
