    Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14x40

I bought this scope about 3 years ago, rarely used. Recently, I mounted on my Savage Arms Mark II TR .22LR, but the windage keeps shooting right as wide as a 3 feet from the POA and POI to the RIGHT. I cranked the dial all the way to the left, but it still hits as close as 1 foot between POA and POI to the right. As far as the elevation movements, they're very accurate.

I don't think it's the scope, but more like the user errors. My feeling is that I probably did something wrong in terms of the windage movement, but can't figure out why.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Sounds like a scope problem to me.

I believe Nikon offer Life Time warranty, give them a call.

At what distance is it 3 feet off?

Have you had a different scope on the Savage, with the same scope mounts, and was it shooting straight?

You have three things to test: The dovetail, the rings, and the scope. Mix and match components (assuming you have 2 scopes and another set of rings) until you find the faulty part.

Or, you could flip one of the rings around, shoot it, then flip the other ring around and shoot it again to see what's going on. Assuming you have it mounted with two rings. That would at least tell you if the rings are out of whack.

No. It's a new gun. And this is the 2nd time I took it out to the range. The first time I didn't even got to the scope because the rifle kept having fte issues.

Thanks. I'll give it a try to see if that works. If not, I'll call Nikon.

One more thought - I don't know if your Savage can be boresighted, but, if it can, you could do that test at home without firing it. 3 feet at 50 yards should be easy to see even down the bore with your eyeball. My money is on the rings being at fault over a Nikon scope, but anything's possible.

                  Does the rifle have irons?

No. Mine isn't boresighted yet. I'm not too sure if I can look down the barrel since it's a 22" barrel. That would be quite a feat if I can see that far down a tiny 22lr hole. I have all kind of laser boresight tools for different calibers w/ significantly shorter barrel lengths, but not for a 22lr.
