Scope help / suggestions for 54r vepr

I have a 23 inch vepr in 54r that I want to put a scope on. Been thinking about a posp like this http://kalinkaoptics.com/rifle-type/...-ak-mount.html. I like how the range finder and bdc are a no brainer. Should I just get a fixed scope and save some money? It would be used for target practice, hunting, and shtf. This will be my first scope. Thanks for your suggestions.

I will have original Belarus-made fixed 8x42 POSP and 4-8x42 next week for way less.
    PM me if interested.

PM me your requests for Russian AK optics - Obzor, Kashtan, Rakurs, POSP, etc.

Russian scope's optic quality is subpar compared to western ones. I would get a RS Regulate or MI AK scope mount and put whatever scope you want on it.

GimpsUnlimited, what scope do you recommend? I really like the range finder on the posp. Any thing out there made in the west like that?

If you are into Russian reticles, try PA line of 1-6x ACSS scopes. Their reticle is of a hybrid design inspired by the Russians. I have one on my AK74. For the price, it can't be beat.

It seems like the acss is an amazing take on the Russian optic. I don't see it calibrated for 54r though. Also at 270$ I will still need a mount and rings, so it may cost even more than the posp. Am I seeing this right.?

Specially for 54r? Nope. But 7.62x51 has similar ballistics, no? I bought mine used with mount for less than the scope's price.

Ice got one of those surplus psl scopes on my rifle and have scoped an ak with an rs mount and a nikon scope -- the Russian scopes are offset and too high for a proper cheek weld, for shoot ability prefer a more western setup. Yeah, the PA scope and mount will cost more but you're getting a variable scope, plus much better ergonomics
