Add crosshairs to a red dot

It's a vortex venom reflex and i don't know how others sight them in , but I'd like to have some kind of crosshair in the center of the "screen".
Are there plastic static stick ons or can i carefully draw some on with a fine sharpie?
What do you folks do. it's on a ruger mark III.

Send it back to the factory or see if there's a factory-provided crosshair overlay? Doing it with a Sharpie will NOT work.

The whole point of a red dot sight is that the dot doesn't need to be in the center of the 'screen'

Probably should get a different optic.

Just make a stencil from construction paper and bust out the krylon. Should work for applying crosshair pattern to the "screen".

The dot floats around the screen... These types of optics, by design, basically cancel out gross amounts of parallax error you get when looking down a traditional sight. They do that by being able to move the dot around...

The idea of drawing a reticle onto the thing is pretty funny...

For sighting it in... use a pistol rest if you need it. There should be windage and elevation screws on the optic. You would use those to move the point of impact on target downrange.

Red dots are designed so that once zeroed, no matter where the red dot is in the sight window, the bullet will hit where the dot is. As your head moves but rifle doesn't move. The red dot stays on the target with relation to your head movement.

As good as Vortex VIP warranty is, i don't think they will take care of you if you attempt to draw/paint a reticle on the red dot

There are red dot sights with non-dot reticles that you could try

JPoint Circle Dot, Delta Point Triangle, RMR Triangle, etc

But I do not know of a Mini/Micro Red Dot sight with a crosshair

Probably better off going to a larger reflex red dot sight to get crosshairs

Short answer: When sighting it in - I recommend as close to the center of the screen as possible. Once sighted in, it doesn't matter.

Long Answer: Once sighted in, it essentially doesn't matter where in the 'screen' the dot is located because the sight is designed to be 'virtually' parallax free. Realistically, there is more parallax error near the edges of most red-dots, but most would probably never notice it inside 100 yards.

This is akin to the blonde joke about making mistakes typing a document on the computer, so she put white-out on the screen.

As others have stated that would be defeating the purpose of a reflex sight. I know you did not ask about Eotech's but the principle still applies below:
