optics shipping from China?

hi, Guys,

I am looking for a $200 or so scope/red dot. It turns out many of the brand products are actually made in China. And then, I searched place like Amazon and Ebay, there are quite a few options shipping directly from China or Hongkong.

For example, this one with 'good pic', and supprisely very low price

Should I take the risk to order directly from China?

I understand the first question is about the quality. Since the brand products (low-med level, aka < $400) are produced in China, then at least we know the quality won't be too bad

There are good quality optics that are made in China, in some cases designed or engineered stateside but produced there to keep costs down.

The optic you linked to looks like a ridiculous piece of airsoft junk. There are LOADS of better options out there for $200.

This is an optic that is produced in China. I own one and it is outstanding. It is not a scope, but a nice multi-reticle RDS.

You can probably find one cheaper, if you look around. Huge bang for the buck.

first, there are many low-end ones from China like the one from original post. so don't even bother

however for $200 level , the brand one has probably 30% mark up just by painting a few character on the product. what if just buy the (almost ) same one without the brand. Bobby's post provides very good example.

a follow up question, let's say we have two $200scope or reddot with the same spec. is there an easy way to tell which one is better by a common member here? or have to go through a few hundred rounds in various condition. or most of us have to rely solely on the brand?

Most of the made in China knock offs and private labels are of poor quality. There are exceptions such as Vortex. For a red dot in your price range consider a Sparc 2.

If you aren't going to listen to advice that contradicts your view, why bother asking the question?

That thing looks like garbage packaged into someone's vision of what American mall ninjas want. (A laser and an RDS both mounted to the scope? Come on.) If you want it, go for it -- but I suspect you'll be shocked at how quickly you want something higher-quality.

Doesn't seem like you are saving significant money to justify it.

Too many other quality options for purchasing an optic these days.

i'd take holosun and primary arms advanced micro dot over vortex red dot any day.

There's good stuff made in China & there's junk made in China, it all depends on the specs & QA. Yes you're paying more for a familar US brand, but you are also paying for that company's higher QA & thus higher reject rate. Iphones and "Wingwa Ephones" are both made in China, and they even look the same on the outside. But they're not the same.

Or you could pay less for the rejects. After all, it looks the same on the outside right? And it's the outside appearance that counts, not the internals... For people that insist on buying one of those, I always suggest they buy a bunch. Because after all, if it's such a great value, grab it all! Oddly, no one ever does that.

Why not? For $60 you get a scope, red dot, and a laser. Should work fine for .22 or your tech-cool cool AR
