Scope needed for a new AR build

This will sit on a Larue Stealth 18inch upper. It'll be my attempt at being precise, and will also see duty as a varmint rifle.

I'm looking for some decent glass, with a price range of up to $1000. I'd like a max magnification of 12 to 16x, with a side focus knob. I've been checking out Bushnell Elites, Zeiss and Leupold so far. Any ideas?

Nikon Monarch for the money is a great scope. Nikon Buckmaster is not bad and even less $$$.

The Elite 6500 series looks pretty good:

Your should expect your rifle to be on par with, if not better, than the military's Mark 12 SPR; so put some nice optics on it!

I am bias'ed. (unfortunately, this is not a $1k setup.... unless you score some nice used deal)

        > Leupold Mark 4 3.5-10x M3 + LaRue SPR mount + LaRue SPR mount side red-dot ring base + docter (+ protector)....
(personally I have this setup on my part accurate Mark 12 SPR Mod 1)

There was a thread somewhere about these scopes that were used on CAR 15's/XM's during some Airborne Raid on a Viet Cong prison camp where American POW's were supposed to be (None found though) and these simple scopes (Early Red Dot or somethin) were sold at like Montgomery Ward or Sears commercially at that time & after war ??

Jicko that looks like an unfriendly rifle to use. The doctor up that high is a distinct disadvantage compared to a doctor on the hand guard. How much does it weigh?

You've got great componets but the rifle looks confused.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.
