I just bought a cheap optic for my daughters mossberg mvp lr. It's chambered in 556 but I have a question. R all scope rings the same size around (not height) . How do I know what size rings to buy for my optic. It is a Simmons 8-Point Truplex Reticle Riflescope, 3-9x50mm bought from Amazon.

Are all scope rings the same size?

You *probably* have a 1 inch tube. Typically scopes above $500 get you into 30mm tubes. Top tier makers typically use 35mm. If you have a gunshop near you, take the rifle and scope to the shop. Set the scope into some rings they have and see what fits flush. If they will let you, you can gently set the rings on your base to see if the height is enough for the objective to clear.I just bought a cheap optic for my daughters mossberg mvp lr. Maybe Google the model number for the specs?Comment

Tube size is 1" on the simmons, great scope. I myself have one on a mossberg flex, verify your height as you may want a little extra to fully exercise the bolt. I added a cheek riser from voodoo tactical and it put me level while resting.
Good choice..Comment

Already answered, but to clarify: No, not all scopes have the same size tube and not all rings are the same diameter. The common sizes are: 30mm, 1", 34mm, and 35mm.Comment
