    I need recommendations

Yes, another scope advice question. I know next to nothing about scopes. I've always been an open sights kinda guy. I need some ideas on make and models to look at.

Here is the current build that is going to need an optic. It's an AR build. .24" flutted bull barrel, .223 chamber, 1-8 twist. Looking to get out about 400 - 500 yards. It should be feasable with heavy ammo.

Scope needs to be affordable, I am not going to drop more money on the scope, than the rifle. i would like to keep it under $400.

I actually kinda like the Mueller 4x16x50 tactical. it's a little over $200.

What do you have? Like? Hate? Give me your honest opinions and I will go look at the scopes that are recommended.

I like the 4.5-14X mil-dot Buckmaster in that price range.

That barrel should easily get you over 600 yards using 62gr bullets or higher. Using 69 or 75 grain rounds you can expect to get out to about 800 yards without too much difficulty. I'd suggest something around 10-14x max magnification. The Nikon Buckmasters would be an excellent choice, as well as the Bushnell 3200 series fixed 10X mil dot scope. For a tighter budget, the Leapers 3-12X44 Accushot is a good scope too.

I have a Mueller 4-16x50 Sport Dot, and it's an OK scope for the money, but I'd recommend better if you can afford it.

At the higher zoom ranges, eye relief gets really tight and the view gets dark. I rarely use it over 10x for this reason. The illumination is strictly low-light, not daylight. The objective lens came loose after a while, and they sent me a new scope, though I had to spend about $25.

You'd be better served by a Buckmaster, Vortex, Burris FFII, or similar. As suggested, contact Liberty Optics and see what they can do for you.

            For 400 try a Bushnell 3200 10x and Larue LT104 mount.

I would look at the Bushnell.
